Citadel Foundation
The Citadel Foundation has been serving the community since 2001 as a non-profit Muslim organization operating exclusively for religious, charitable, educational and literary purposes. The foundation aspires to educate Muslims and non-Muslims alike with the basic knowledge of Islam, to contribute individually and collectively towards meeting human needs in conformity with Turkish understanding of Islam, to help eradicate wrong practices and ignorance in religion and propagate an atmosphere of harmony and tolerance in the community through interfaith dialogue with other individuals, faith groups, and organizations.
The Foundation aims:
- To assist all people with counselling and enlightenment in personal and professional life, and to provide support in real life problems regardless of individual's race, ethnicity, national origin and orientation.
- To help Muslims in North America pursue Islam as a way of life and introduce them to authentic teachings of Islam.
- To conduct religious, social, civic, charitable, educational, literary and scientific activities.
- To create better understanding and tolerance between Muslims and non-Muslims in Texas and surrounding areas through dialogue.
Activities:
- Hold daily prayers at the main center and affiliated branches
- Conduct and deliver weekly sermons and congregational prayers on Fridays
- Organize fast breaking activities, short lectures, Qur'anic recitations, special evening prayers throughout the month of Ramadan for the benefit of the community
- Conduct programs on major Muslim holidays (Eid Al-Adha and Eid Al-Fitr) and deliver sermons, organize community activities such as picnics or house visits on these occasions
- Commemorate the Night of Power, the Night of Isra and Miraj and other key occasions by holding special activities and prayers.
- Organize educational and social activities throughout the year aimed at spiritual enlightenment and of men, women and children.
- Offer introductory weekly lectures aimed for educating Muslims and non-Muslims.
- Hold open house for neighbours, visitors and special guests
- Organize visits to nurseries, hospitals, prisons to help support those in need.
- Participate in interfaith activities to foster peace in the local community through religious dialogue and harmony.
- Provide service to the community members at events such as births, weddings, funerals and other special occasions.
- Organize weekend Islamic schools, summer camps and educational classes for children.
