Eid-ul Fitr celebration PDF Print E-mail
eidul_fitr_07.jpgOn Saturday, October 13th, Turkish-American community got together at Grand Plaza Hotel's Sam Houston Ballroom to celebrate the Eid (Bayram). Around 1000 attended and imam Mustafa Yigit recited verses from Quran beautifully and delivered his moving sermon both in English and in Turkish as well. Festivities followed by a delicious breakfast on site and all children present were gifted by being invited to the stage. Many "bayram" traditions were also cherished, such as door to door visit of children for candy and money, visiting elderly and each other in the houses at the expense of having stomach ache from all the sweets and baklava that was consumed.
