Eid-ul Adha
Eid
al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice is one of two Eid
festivals celebrated by Muslims, whose basis comes from the Qur’an. Like Eid el-Fitr,
Eid ul-Adha begins with a short prayer followed by a sermon (khuṭba).
Eid ul-Adha annually falls on the 10th day of the month of Dhul Hijja
of the lunar Islamic calendar.
Citadel Foundation Highly Esteemed at the Turkic Fest
Citadel Foundation met with Houstonians at
the Turkic Cultures and Children's Festival on November 1st and 2nd
at Hermann Square, City Hall. In such a spectacular festival with more than
15000 visitors, Citadel Foundation received great attention from all ages with
its uniquely designed booths called "The Houston Blue Mosque" where
visitors had the chance to observe daily prayers.
On Thuesday, 2008 September 30th, Turkish-American community got together at Houston Blue Mosque to celebrate the Eid (Bayram). Around 800 attended and imam Mustafa
Yigit recited verses from Quran beautifully and delivered his moving sermon both
in English and in Turkish as well.
